Decorate a child’s room or a storage crate with cute crocheted bunting.
Use two colours or a variety of hues to make a colourful bunting. You can make your triangles any size you like – simply keep adding rows until you’ve reached the desired size.
Materials
8-ply (DK) yarn
7mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
Row 1: Ch 2.
Row 2: Work 2 dc into the second chain from the hook.
Row 3: Turn work. Ch 1. Dc twice into each stitch (4 stitches).
Row 4: Turn work. Ch 1. Dc twice in the first stitch then dc once in each remaining stitch (5 stitches).
Row 5: Turn work. Ch 1. Dc twice in the first stitch then dc once in each of the remaining stitches (6 stitches).
Row 6: Turn work. Ch 1. Dc twice in the first stitch then dc once in each of the remaining stitches (7 stitches).
Row 7 onwards: Carry on working dc twice in the first stitch and once in each of the remaining stiches, until you obtain the desired size of your triangle. Our last row had 26 stitches in it, with the triangles measuring about 13cm (5 inches) long and 10cm (4 inches) high.
Fasten off and sew in the end of the yarn.
Joining the triangles
Chain 30 (for a tie at one end) then, on the right side of your triangles, facing you, dc along the top. Chain 6 in between each triangle and dc along the top of each triangle. When you reach the last triangle, chain another 30.
Turn, ch 1, then dc right the way along to the end.
Fasten off. Sew in your ends.
