Glam up a girl’s bedroom

glam-bedroomSugar and spice and all things nice. That’s what little girls want, right?

Well, at some stage of their lives, little girls love pink, though any soft, pastel colour is usually a hit. But to glam up a room, it’s all about the details. Use tactile materials, like the feathers on this lamp and the chiffon ribbon rose fabric used for the cushion.

You can easily jazz up an existing lamp with feathers. Head to your local craft shop and buy some feather trim to match your lamp shade. You could also add a feather trim to the bottom of Roman blinds if you wish.

Cushions are a great way to add some spice to a girl’s room. The chiffon ribbon rose fabric, seen here, is freely available from fabric stores, or find it online on sites like Etsy or Ebay. Buy the fabric and make your own cushions for a cheap and cheerful way to brighten up a room.

Buy other tactile fabric to make a soft throw for the bed. Or buy a beautiful, soft-to-the touch wool fabric for less than half the price of a woollen throw.

Then add bling – in golds and silvers – to the mix. An easy way to do this is to switch out your plain lamp base for a metallic one. But other accessories, like photo frames, vases and storage boxes in gold or silver are easy to add in too. Or paint a chest of drawers with a metallic paint for extra glamour.

Add a posy of faux pink flowers (or a colour that matches your scheme) to pull the whole look together.

  1. Love this, it’s so pretty. Will have to try that feathers on the lamp..soooo effective!
