Reviewing the Cricut EasyPress3

As a newbie Cricut creator, I’m incredibly impressed with how easy and amazingly cool both the Cricut cutting machines (I have the Cricut Explore 3) and the new EasyPress3 are. There’s no need to swot for hours to learn how to use either machine. You can simply download the app and follow the instructions it provides.

For my very first project I kept it simple and cut out a star-shaped stencil. Search for ‘star’ on the Cricut Design Space site (there are loads of free SVG files to choose from) and save it to a blank canvas. I used the classic T-shirt template and dragged the star to the position I wanted on the template and adjusted its size. Then it’s just a matter of saving the template, and sending it to your Cricut machine. It tells you exactly what to do, depending on the material you select and the type of project. You feed your material into the machine (I used Smart Vinyl here – a heat transfer vinyl) and that’s it! It cuts out your template. Amazingly easy!

Once the stencil is cut out, you use the EasyPress3 app on your phone to connect to your EasyPress3 machine, and again it takes you through what to do. Basically, heating the T-shirt for 5 seconds, pressing the stencil onto the shirt for 30 seconds, pressing the back of the shirt for 30 seconds, letting it cool for a few minutes, then peeling off the protective backing. And you have a beautiful stencil on your shirt. Super quick and easy.

I will be playing around with different stencils to press onto totes, sweatshirts, pillow cases, and even wood (to make some nifty signs).

I’m in love with my new machines!
