From the roots of your hair, you’re going to run the straightener down your hair slowly and smoothly. Depending on how curly your hair is, you may need a few more strokes to get your hair pin-straight. In this case, instead, do all the sections first and then circle back around. 2. Vintage waves
Who said straighteners were only good for straightening hair? Well, let us tell you that this amazing device has the ability to make waves — literally! Vintage waves are another classic hairstyle that can be achieved with the help of your hair straightener.
To create the perfect vintage waves, you will need to use heat protectant spray first. Then, once your hair is procted, you’ll want to clamp one section of your hair closer to the root with the straightener facing up. Using a regular hair straightener, clamp the section near the roots and gently twist your wrist back and forth as you move down the hair to create an S-shaped wave.
Go slowly so the shape sets well. Do this for the rest of your hair in layers. Once you’re done, lightly brush through the waves with a paddle to smooth them out without losing the shape. Then, to fake a short haircut, tuck the ends of your hair under toward your neck and pin them at the top and bottom so it looks like you have a short bob.
5. Polished Pony
The Polished Pony is also a simple yet timeless hairstyle that you can pull off. To start with, you want to straighten your hair completely, so follow the first step here. Then, tilt your head backwards and divide the middle or bottom sections. Once your hair is all straight, put it into a ponytail. Finally, using your straightener, give the pony one 180° wrap and turn just at the tip to give it an elegant flick.
6. Soft retro curls
For soft retro curls, you only need to curl the bottom half of your hair. The size of these curls will also depend on the straightener you’re using. Around halfway up your hair, wrap your hair around the straightener twice, once at the middle and then again just before the tips. Gradually glide the straightener down your hair and release it at the end. This should give you a standard retro curl.
